    I am pleased to announce, that as of an hour ago, Blue Filter has become a fully registered publisher. The first book is due to go to press at the end of next week, and is the work of a group of students from Newham, shot earlier this year. I will make more details available in due course, but as a teaser, the cover – front and back – are shown below.

  • Fuji Finepix X100 – update

    Fuji have confirmed this morning that the X100 will be available from March 2011, at a US price point of $1000.

    It will be interesting to see if the UK market gets the equivalent £650 or if it is screwed as usual with a price of £1000. Whatever happens, it is causing a storm of interest online, and leaves me feeling rather vindicated by my earlier missives on this subject.

    In the meantime there is a microsite for those wanting to learn more.

Congratulations to Jayne and Dave for their wedding yesterday. I hope your future lives together are filled with laughter, love and endless opportunity. The most common question I’m asked is: why did you become a photographer? The only truly honest answer is that I’m a nosey bastard. I like to poke my nose into other people’s business, and then tell the world about it. Photography is one of the only professions that gives you a licence to do that. And I love meeting interesting people. The latest issue of @bjp1854 has an article Taking A Stanza, which discusses the renewed popularity of poetry paired with photography. In particular David Solo’s (who co-curated Photo Poetry Surfaces at the 2021 Bristol Photo Festival) statement that, “these collaborations work best when the poetry is not a caption and the photography is not an illustration, but rather both raise questions,” really struck a chord.
